Selichot Announcement

The Religious Practices Committee invites you to join us for our Selichot service Saturday evening, September 17, 2022, starting at 7:30PM in our chapel at Congregation Shir Chadash.   Selichot prepares us spiritually for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Selichot (which literally means “forgiveness”) are penitential prayers recited before and during the High Holidays and other fast days throughout the year. The Thirteen Attributes of Mercy are a central theme throughout these prayers. At the Selichot service, we begin to examine our deeds of the past year and contemplate positive changes we wish to make in the upcoming year.

When we gather at 7:30PM, we will first change our Torah Mantels to the High Holy Day white mantels.  Then, at 8PM, we will live-stream, along with other congregations, to Temple Beth Emet in Anaheim for their Selichot service featuring Cantor Sam Glaser.  Cantor Sam Glaser has been named one of the top ten Jewish performers in the US by Moment magazine.

If you are unable to come to the chapel, but would like to connect to the live-stream Selichot service at Temple Beth Emet (TBE), you can go to the TBE website,, and tap the LIVE STREAM button.

Wishing you and your family a warm and comforting L’Shana Tovah.
